super 9 70cc kick start kick back

I installed a molossi 70cc bbk ,del otro21mm carb 90 main jet stock exhaust electric water pump stock oil pump. When I try to kick it over with the kick start it kicks back hard not all the time it's will start and run its like I can barely push it down slow and it will kick my foot back it didn't do this stock I heard it could be the timing how do you adjust that when the flywheel can only go on one way right  it kicks back so hard that it chewed three splines off the gear waiting for replacement can someone steer me in a direction on how to fix this issue

Hello buzz, I think is probably timing.  I don't know how to adjust timing, but the flywheel can shear the woodruff key and change the timing.  How does it run once started?  You might want to pull the stator flywheel and made sure the key is good?  Good luck.

I've had it happen to me once or twice over time,  but it's never been an on going issue.  I just got her going and didn't think about it after...
I wonder if there's any other damage it can cause.  Hadn't happened to me in quite a while...

Same thing happened with me just after installation.  The kick back was very strong and felt like damage would occur or that the kick mechanism was somehow out of adjustment. After taking it apart checking the teeth and entire kick start assembly, It turns out nothing was wrong. The added high compression of the 70cc kit and lack of firing resulted in the symptoms you described. The culprit: .... bad battery. No sh**, really, it was a bad battery. Swapped a new one in, fired first kick and never had an issue since. Not saying this is your issue, but one of those things that seem way out of left field and not what you would associate as being the issue. GL
