Moped is in gear even at low idle speed
« on: November 04, 2015, 04:19:23 PM »
Hello,

I have about 3300 miles on my 2012 super 8 50 2t. Over the summer and into the fall my moped started to always stay in gear when I come to a stop no matter how low the idle speed is set to. Does anyone know what is causing this and how I can fix it?

Thanks.

Posting multiple threads on the same topic should be discouraged . . exploits others by segmenting the discussion!

MS9407 large clutch nut may have loosened and is contacting the inner bell surface.  Torque driver may have insufficient grease.  A clutch shoe may not be retracting.

Sounds to me like the centrifugal clutch is dragging. This could be caused by either a broken clutch spring or the drive pulleys being bent. You will have to remove the outer belt cover and inspect the clutch and the cvt belt and variator to find out what is hanging up.

I am new to the greasing process, do I need to buy a grease gun to apply the grease?

Not in the CVT! Just a bit on the end of your index finger will do the whole sleeve for the front. One of the tech on here recommended a spray dry lube for the front and I agree. The clutch bearings in the rear just need that bit at the tip of your finger.
