I am a newbie who just got my learner's permit and am looking for a first bike. I saw the 2015 Super 8 150R & 150X on the U.S. Kymco site and began to research them. It wasn't until a few weeks back that I discovered that all of the stuff I had been reading was actually for the 2014 and older "Super 8 150" which is a completely different bike (for the purposes of internet searching, it would have been very nice if Kymco would have selected a new and different name..). I think I would be very satisfied with one of these used 2009-2014 Super 8 150's since the reviews are very favorable. But I'm not finding any available in my area (San Francisco Bay Area). So I'm looking at the new "Super 8 150" versions with the 'R' or 'X' appended to the name. The problem I am running into is that there is hardly any information on the internet about this new model. It seems like other manufacturers' new models often have incredibly detailed write-ups (engine details, etc.). For example, why did Kymco change the engine from the 2014 model to a different one that produces exactly the same horsepower but get 12 MPG less? I realize that the new Super 8 looks very similar to the Agility 125 and apparently shares some common parts. But I can't find many specifics. I can't even find ONE review by an actual owner, nor even ONE review by a media person that rode it. Just seems really strange to me. I would like to know if the bike will be a good performer and highly reliable before buying. If I could be assured that it would perform like the Agility 125 I would probably go for it in a heart beat. The X has already had a recall, for example (see links below).
Just curious if this has been a frustration for any forum members here? And, has anyone found any more thorough information? Thanks so much! BTW the links below are pretty much all I have found!
