I went with a HID set up, lights up very well, but it is not good for long viewing ,  so I added LID lights and they are very good ,   you could use these and you would like them all alone,  with your standard lights,  check out Donjacks posts for pictures,  from last summer,

if the reflector is designed for the position of the filament in a halogen bulb it will not project the light emitted from a HID or LED the same way, it may end up brighter but the beam pattern will not be correct

best way to get additional light is to stick with the stock headlamp and add an auxiliary LED lamp that has a reflector designed for a LED lamp
