Cutting out at idle

Hi

Today on the wet ride into work everytime I stopped at a junction or traffic lights the engine would cut out.

I could restart it generally without an issue.

If I kept the throttle open when I stopped to the point at which it was just about to engage the clutch then it would be ok?!

I check the fuel and the oil levels.  About 1/2 tank of fuel and the oil is still in the hatched area of the dipstick (although it could do with a top up).

I noticed that there is a hose which is not attached though, it appears to come from under the seat somewhere and goes across the top of the crankcase cover, are there any hoses which should be not attached to anything?  Can post a photo if it helps?

I had the same problem with mine. It then got worse. After a while it would stall out in wet weather and refuse to start for a couple of hours.
I took it into the shop and they old me the cylinder was scratched up from having been run without enough oil (by the previous owner).
A new cylinder was put in and the problem went away.

The rubber tube you refer to is unlikely to cause any problems whatsoever. All tubes are either breathers so open to the atmosphere anyway or vacuum hoses which sucks the fuel from the tank to the carb, if one was off you would get no fuel at all.

Just adjust the tick over screw, 1 minutes work. Take the cover off from under the seat and screw the throttle adjuster screw up half a turn or so while running (warm engine). The electric cold start should take care of cold starts.

You may have other issues of course requiring a full service but it will stop it stalling for you.
