the red racing fan being sold in the scooter assasins are designed for less drag, and not for more cooling. I advise you against using these kinds of fans unless you are in a really cool place. Here in Philippines we do not advise using such fan. but we do have an available GY6 fan that has more fins and the fin design is optimized for better airflow.

Been away on a Va Ca. I changed the fan w/ the pipe due to more rpm's. Rpm's=heat! Hey aloy_g... What is the fan you are recomending? The first thing I noticed w/ the scoot assassins fan was my shroud swelling w/ revs. I never had that happen w/ the stock fan! I was under the "assumption" that the fin design in the scoot assassins fan is what made the difference... It does have about 1/2 the fins of the stock fan.

...i remember looking at that fan....(ain't it red) ??? ..when i was contemplating on the blown air thing, wanting more air...

..i'd be interested in a higher output fan m'self!!

this is the fan i have orded from racing planet,,,its fore to increase tha air flow not to lower the air drag..looks the same but is much bigger then assasin fan.

Sweet! I have seen those ( forgot where). You will have to modify the shroud, but that is easy compared to the tuning. Try to post some picts, of the install! I would love to see it all set up.

Hi Mr.moose.

I think the fan you have has almost the same effect as the assassin fan. if you analyze the fins seriously, the fins gets the air from the engine, blowing it out of the side cover. What we need is a fan that will suck air from the side going towards the engine itself.

Here's a sample picture of what we use on our gy6 engines here in Philippines.

Notice the tha fins in the inner side catches air as it rotates clockwise, and dumps air on the other side, producing greater air inflow.

..i've never seen a fan that takes air from the engine...and expells it out the side...

..makes no sense...

..from where would the air be inducted??

yeah me too. but the fin design says otherwise. most probably the fan stil blows air toward the engine but the effect is greatly reduced due to the fin design.

Just comparing the two. Tuning vs. fan swap. All of these fans are actually vacuum generators. The idea is NOT to push air but to pull it into the center. That is where the efficiency of the fan is determined. The expelled air is what we use to cool our engines, but the vacuum created at the vortex of the fan is what is important. Even cutting the protectors away from the front of the shroud covering the spinning fan gives a huge increase in flow, as the fan can now pull air w/out the "safety" obstructions. Also the shape of the fans center will effect the output. A cone shape will focus the air, where a flat space allows the air to diffuse before going thru the blades. If the fans aloy g posted had a snap on cap to cover the flywheel nut access, it would be even better than it is. I look for fans w/ that pointy cone in the center.

I just noticed the safety rating of 11'000 rpm's also. Good for a 4t or low end tuned 2t. I still like the Assassins fan. No disrespect... Just MY opinion. That's why I got hooked on this forum... There is more info here than there is in any other format I know of. It seems EVERYTHING gets fixed, and we all get to see it happen!
