Low rumble question...

I had this in the general forum, so I trashed it, and brought it over here to the right one!  

First, I'd like to say hello to everyone here!! This is my first post, and though I wish it were to just say hello, unfortunately, it's not.  So, I got my Agility 50 about 2 1/2 weeks ago, and everything has been fine up until this past Friday.  I notice when I get her up to about 25mph + I start to hear a low rumble sound coming from the back wheel area.  It's not a very loud rumble, and it's not something that I had heard prior.  It sort of sounds as if there may be something loose, so yesterday, while I was modifying my CDI (thank you all for that info...gained 7mph!), I decided to take off the plate around the variator to see what I could see.  I didn't see anything that I thought looked out of place (keep in mind, I'm not that mechanically inclined, but have a butt load of common sense, so I know my limits).  Has anyone ever experienced this?  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Awesome! I just got mine 1 and a half week ago.  Did you buy yours new?  If so, you could probably get the dealer to check it out, if you have any concerns.

Actually, I traded a 1996 Nissan Maxima that I had at my house that wasn't being used by either myself or my wife for the past 2 years.  I got it on an even trade, brand new!!  Love it to death!  My only problem w/ bringing it back to the dealer is, last thing I'd want is to be in one of those situations where I'm stuck without it for 4-5 days.  That's why I'm hoping that someone on here has heard of this, knows what it is, and can tell me what I need to do to fix it myself.  I'd love to be able to keep working on it whenever possible so I can get to the point when ANYTHING goes wrong, I'll do the work myself, you know?

Yep, i know the feeling, i was in your situation a week ago.  Had problems with my a50 brand new from the dealer and i had to leave it with them for 5 days.  Was probably something i could have fixed myself.  During those 5 days i did a lot of reading into old threads and the service manual.  Very helpful!  You should download and read it:

I recently just broke a bolt on the cvt cover.  I should've used a torque wrench!  Don't be like me, use a torque wrench and follow the recommended torque numbers from the manual. 

You can also check the manual to see if your problem is listed, i know that there is troubleshooting guide in there.

Anyway, someone here will definitely be able to help you, they're smart peoples.

..briandrum, Welcome to th' Forum!!

...these cvts tend to make a few funny noises from time to time..

..most of it IS normal...

..now, you're calling it a rumble...is it something you can feel??..vibration??...

..check your gearbox oil level just to verify there's some oil in there, and make sure your rear tire pressure is up to spec..

..i've heard so many rattles, rumbles etc...since i bought this thing...dang...

...trust your best judgement, but if you think there is a problem, go ahead and take it back...

..i know, it's painful to not have it for a few days, but it will be better to fix the problem before any major repair work would be necessary..

Don't be like me, use a torque wrench and follow the recommended torque numbers from the manual.

..shu, as long as you get those cvt bolts good and snug, they won't be a problem...

..they have the "shoulder" ring that seats the rubber seal...when that ring seats, they're tight enough...
