Fuel gauge all sorts of screwed up
« on: May 28, 2010, 01:34:34 PM »
So I fire up babe this morning...let her warm up...hop on and start my journey to work.  When I get close to the end of my road, I look down and the fuel gauge says I'm on empty! :o  I just filled up last night, so I knew it was wrong, but decided to check anyway...obviously it was full.  As I continue my journey, the gauge starts to go up, then back down, then back up, down, up then stays.  I had to just run out to the store, and now it's saying that I have a half tank.....  What could this be?  Maybe a wiring issue?

According to the service manual, it could be a loose wire connection, faulty fuel unit, or faulty instrument.  Go take a look at the manual.  :)

Check the ground lug on the tank. It may be loose or just corroded a bit. Mine acted the same way when I got it.

Yeah, sounds like a bad connection. Mine just goes down, and very fast. ;)
