« on: March 02, 2016, 12:00:01 AM »
I am wanting to build my super8 .  would like to know if anyone out there has built a 2 stroke, and the different combinations of components. I'm considering the malossi cast iron 70cc piston kit,a dellorto 21mm carb. I am not sure of which reeds, intake, I'd just like to hear some different combinations of parts and what brands and what is the top speed achieved, and a good place to order my parts. I live in North Carolina thanks you guys

Where at in nc? I can't believe no one responded to this. What you listed is a great start, but for speed you need to look at expansion pipes. That and upgearing is where you'll find top end. The rest will get you there faster. More air in, more air out, higher rpms equal higher speeds

Plane guy mentioned reeds. Do carbon reeds add any noticeable performance? I know they are easier on the engine than the stock metal ones if they break

To my knowledge, no, not until you start to spin some mad rpms. Even then you need to worry about reed flutter. If you love to learn about 2t motors, read Graham bell 2 stroke tuning. It's the bible to 2t enthusiasts. A bit won't directly apply to scooters, but it can give you a great understanding of what is going on. It may also make you want to do things to your scooter. Lol.

Having ridden hot mx 125s in my teens, I'm definitely wanting to hot rod my scoot a little. Tecnigas Trek is on it's way from Germany as we speak
