TP-90 Tire Pressure Monitor
« on: April 11, 2016, 03:05:10 PM »
Dear Wife got this for me-gotta be careful about saying things are neat! Installed on the DT300i and would have supplied pictures but that seems to be a tech detail I am unable to figure out. Nonetheless, it is a neat instrument with some warts I will mention. Firstly, it is a chinese product called Steelmate. There is a Steelmateusa.com but they don't support that steelmate product. The TP-90 has been "bootlegged" into the US thru Amazon and other outlets and THEY have no idea how it works so if you get one, you are on your own. One of the "warts" or shortcomings is the display: pretty red, green and white that is very clear in shade but disappears in sunlight or even overcast. A big wart is the parameter setting method on the instructions do NOT match the hardware!  I will volunteer details of what I found to work if you get one. The hookup was pretty easy and solved the problem of the .8 amp fuse on the convenience outlet in the "glovebox." I had already run a #12 wire with fuse to power the "WOLO"horn so just branched off that to power the outlet. It is fused for 20 amps so I can charge the battery back thru this outlet. The two wires that had been soldered to the outlet now power the TP-90 since it is energized only when the key is on!
