Agility 125: Lost my top speed!
« on: April 08, 2016, 02:26:53 AM »
On the way to work the scooter just lost its usual power.  Normally tops out at 55-60, now only 40 or so.  Seemed to happen suddenly...?  I suspected a clutch/belt/driveline problem but if that were the case, wouldn't the engine rev like crazy?  The revs aren't there as usual.  Where do I start with this?

57,000km.  The belt is a couple of months old, as are the rollers.  The clutch is original and it has been engaging roughly for the last 1000km or so.  What's involved in a clutch inspection?  Do I need to fully disassemble it?

Observe if carb slide is rising properly.  Replacement diaphragm resources . . partsforscooters (item 15) . . scrappydogscooters . . video.

tortoise, I can't see what angle would reproduce the view in the video...from the airbox side?  I guess that's the only way that makes sense.  I will pursue the clutch avenue if I can get the darn thing off!  A youtube video showed a guy doing that with a gear puller, but I just broke mine >:(.  Better order the special tool.

I give up.  It's in the shop and I'll check in when I know more.

Been a couple of weeks, and I've had some success:

1.  Found out that generic GY6 driveline parts fit this scooter, or at least my particular one.  Got a complete clutch assembly and complete variator assembly from the local ATV/scooter supplier and they fit fine, with one exception:  the inside plate/carrier? for the variator wasn't as thick as stock, so to keep things in line we kept the stock Kymco piece.  With all the new parts, the jerky clutch engagement issue is gone and much of the top speed has returned.  Now it'll go over 40-45mph depending on the wind.  Still not as good as it was.

2.  Found some leaks in the carb diaphragm (thanks, tortoise) and ordered two from scrappydog (thanks, Mo).

I'll report more when I get the new diaphragm installed.  I think I may need to fine tune the rollers and maybe the big clutch spring, but I'll do the obvious fix first and see how it goes.

The new diaphragm did the trick!  I'm back up to 60mph with a rebuilt driveline and life is good.  Thanks for all the help, especially the tip about the carb from tortoise.
