Blessing of the Scooter
« on: May 01, 2016, 12:19:03 AM »
Well the steady cold rain kept the riders away in droves from today's Blessing of the Bikes.

I suited up in heavy boots, water-proof hi viz jacket over an Icon leather, froggtogg  rain pants, Pinlocked Nolan, and sprayed my leather gauntlets again with silicone water proofing and set off across town on the LIKE200iLX.

Most all of the events were cancelled....but a few gals gamely grilled, and disheartened salesmen wandered the floor of this big dealership....but there were at least 3 Christian Biker groups present and the Blessing of the Bikes went on as scheduled.

Sadly, not another scooter in sight.
A few big bike riders came over and photographed my LIKE200i, and me on it......and I am pretty certain these HD and sport bike riders thought the LIKE was a perfectly restored old Italian scooter of some sort, brought out in this driving rain by a dedicated and talented restorer.

Oh well, will try to connect with scooters again next year. The KYMCO and I have been Blessed for another year (with a piece of Burgman under the seat - that scoot is now covered, too)
Apparently a lot of bikers came in their cars - and were thus Blessed as riders.

New scooter line up: Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha & Kymcos.

Big showroom of bikes....

No used scooters remaining on the floor...but this big Kawasaki was my fav used bike.

Since it was such a nice riding day I took the long way home via the reservoir.
Coming in the front door I announced, "Louise, I think my crotch is WET !"
My wife replied, "Who's Louise?!"

PS : the Kymco performed flawlessly on this rainy outing.
Just toweled it off when I got home and left the garage door open for a few hours to let it dry.

Glad you had a safe ride today.  Our scooter meet up has been canceled for tonight because of the weather.
Las Vegas is experiencing the same weather as you are.  Overcast skies and cold rain.
That also means that you all are in for more rain in about 5 days as our weather makes it's way east.  One of the wettest April's on record here at an  1 1/2" of rain so far this month.  It has come slowly so, the valley has not had any extreme flooding as in years past.

Ride safe

You Stig, are hard core to the core! A shining example for us timid souls who would not even consider STARTING a riding day in the rain, you venture forth to show the merchants if they throw an event, they better MAN UP 'cause you and the rest of the gang will be there an will want the promised show!

Reminds me of days past as a kid in the 70's living in Vegas playing in the street as the gutters overflowed with rain and lots of things flooded all around.

My first thought kinda like Robert Downey Jr. minus the drugs.

Looks like those Competition Accessories guys have what a cyclist needs or wants! If they don't have it you don't need it!

PS: The only scoot I could see was YOURS!
