clutch pully sticking open
« on: July 26, 2016, 01:06:01 PM »
My belt burnt up on my 06 exciting 250 with 12000km (7500mi) on it. I replaced it with a gates that was very tight to get on but said to fit my bike(may have been wrong size) It burnt up within 2 miles. Variator appears to be fine.  The clutch pulley seems to stick open 1/2" or so but can snap closed with help. I,m thinking the belts may have got stuck down low and burnt up. Shouldn,t this pulley fully close when not engaged?or is this normal? Other than that the clutch appears fine. I am putting a oem belt on it this time and don't want it to burn up. Sorry for the repost I need to order parts soon/season is short in Ohio, thanks!

I am curious as to why you posted the same thing in three different places about the same problem.
