BINGO........My front pads worn out.And when I went to replace the new ones. The bold that holds theam in got striped out. I tried drilling out.And that was a mistake.Because now the thing is broke for sure. So I took the front brakes right off the scoot. I do ok with just the back.they are new and working good. Im hopeing to get new soon if not this summer .befor the beginning of next summer.Did not realy care for the front any ways if I stoped to hard the back tire would come off the ground......Not good..
Blue - Unless you are only riding around in a camp ground at 20 MPH on a 50cc.....
You must get those brakes replaced if riding on city streets - or park the scooter!
Park it!
You have not lost 50% of your braking - it is more like 75+% of your braking is now gone!
In even a moderate to serious stop, such as the "
light just turned yellow and you're too away far to make it", the weight comes off the rear tire....while the front tire is what will bring you to a stop. Sometimes we have to get out of the rear brakes to keep from skidding....and risk going down.
But the main thing is you will very drastically increase your stopping distances. There is a big difference between stopping 2 feet short of that SUV....
or with your head & shoulders through their door glass.
Blue , you know all of this! Please get your front brake fixed.....take a loan, use a credit card and pay it off over 6 mos. , whatever - do not ride with just a rear brake.
