Hello from Philippines
« on: July 30, 2016, 10:30:45 AM »
Just thought I`d say hi and introduce myself.
I work in UK but live in PH and just got myself a super 8 150cc
Although my other bike is a 2015 Z1000 I`m over the moon with the Kymco
I`m just breaking in the engine right now and using variable revs all the time and changed first oil at 100km.
I will do another at 500km then 1000km before I start to push it a little.
I`m planning on squeezing a bit more power out of it as it struggles uphill when I have a back ride with me.
Ane thing I have noticed though is the my wife`s Yamaha Mio 115 is a LOT smoother and better response when pulling way...If anyone has any ideas on how to make it a bit more responsive then please let me know :)
Many thanks
Matty

Hi Matty, welcome to the forum.  I am a pretty new member myself and have found this to be a very friendly place.  Hopefully someone will have an answer for you.

Hello Mattler and welcome to the Forum! I would wait until the Super is completely broken in before I would evaluate its performance. After that, you may want to look in to replacing the stock rollers with Dr. Pulley sliders. They generally give a more linear, smoother, take-off. Best of luck and be careful.  ;)

variable revs is the way to go. but  you should push it... your only worry is having the brakes broken in. i never sustain a constant speed but wot should be the limit.
if then you feel u need some extra accel.. go with sliders. downsize 1 gram and ull see

Hi, Matty! Welcome! Sounds like you are having fun on the scoot as you should. We used to have a guy on here call sign Vivo. He had a tour service/taxi/rental car service somewhere near Manila, I think, and he sent some GREAT pictures of the road to Baguio. He dropped off a coulpa years ago but I think his business just got real busy. Let us know what's happening in the PI and your progress with the scoot!

I replaced my rollers with Dr Pulley Sliders (13gram) and got very close to original performance only the RPM's lowered slightly. So you'll want to go lighter than 13 gram.

Thanks for the warm welcome and all the replies guys. I`ve been offline due to having to haul ass back to the UK for a 1 day training course so literally just got back.
As for break in I am following the "vary revs" rule and will use low quality oil until I feel it is broken in then put the good stuff in it.
I also just bought my wife a yamaha mio so that we can both enjoy the world of scootering.
