derestrict super 8 50x 4 stroke
« on: August 25, 2016, 03:53:21 PM »
Hi all,
I'm new to the form but was wondering how to go about derestricting the super 8 50x four stroke.  I see a lot of topics on the two stroke but nothing on the four.  Does anyone know of the restrictions in place on it?

What is your current top speed? Do you have a tach? If so, what is your max rpm?  Most of the small Kymcos have a variator restriction. Older ones have a CDI rpm restriction, but I think they stopped that around 2007.

i don't have a tach to find the max rpms. the fastest i've gotten is 30 downhill...not a shade over. i read on this forum that I could derestrict the cdi? also I bought it two days ago, is there a break in period I should wait till? like when I change the oil?

I'd wait until 500 miles to derestrict the cdi if that's needed. First thing you'll want to do is derestrict the variator..It's the same method that you'll find on the board for any of the 50cc Kymcos. Basically changing a bushing.

Awesome! Do you know a good variator bushing brand? And also do you reccomend new rollers?

You should be able to get the bushing from your kymco dealer. If you live where it's flat, the stock rollers work fine. If you want a little better acceleration and hill speed, go one gram lower with rollers.

Cut off the muffler and put a cheap slipon exhaust in its place, or weld something there. I made a megaphone out of a co2 cannister

Also remove the carburetor from the rubber boot that connects it to the engine, youll see a thick restrictor washer lodged in the intake boot. Pop that washer out for double torque at the cost of zero
