How much heat is normal on transmission cover...?
« on: June 21, 2010, 02:57:35 PM »
After riding my scoot a good bit, the transmission cover gets pretty hot.  I know that  "hot" is a subjective term... the only way I can quantify how hot is to say that when I touch the cover, it is uncomfortably hot, but not so hot that I can't keep my hand there.  It's been this way since day one...

Is it normal for the transmission to heat up like this?  I'm guessing so, but just want to be sure that nothing is amiss... Thanks!

it is normal ,there is much friction , is anormal if you cant keep hand on cover for 2-3 sec ,heat is dangerous for belt and for clutch .If the clutch get very hot it will slip from the bell ,but I don't think is your case ... I have 16000 now and now peoblem ...yet
