Spare a prayer for our U.K. friends
« on: March 23, 2017, 01:32:32 AM »
Really lousy news from London today.
Our cousins don't need this kind of grief in that handsome city.
This hits a bit close to home for our family:
Our youngest daughter opted out of a class trip which left for the U.K. 3 days ago, passing through London airport after the recent shooting there - and before this latest attack in the city. (My U.K. buddy calls London, "Big Smoke")
The kids are safe, having flown on to Ireland from London.
But soon they will be back in London - likely walking across that bridge as teen-aged tourists on a school trip.
She opted out of the trip partly because of the expense - but mainly because they were spending only 1.5 of the 10 days in Paris.
She said she could not imagine going that far, spending that much.... and only having one morning to wake up in Paris before flying home.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

So very sad. So senseless. My condolences to the friends and family who lost loves ones in the terrible event.

My daughter rec'd a text from her 2 best friends currently on the school trip to U.K. & Paris -
The youngsters out-voted the adults & chose not to let terrorists change their itinerary ....they will continue on to London soon.
Good answer.

Thanks for this thread Stig.

I've only one thing to add:
