Malossi primary gear 6711055
« on: January 01, 2016, 11:17:36 PM »
Got Malossi primary gear kit 6711055 for People 50 2T.  Disassembled gearbox today, and kit doesn't fit.  The 2 gears that are changed out after assembly don't touch by approx 1/2".  Of course, since this is Malossi, no returns, sad for me.

Forgot to add gear count:  Kymco OEM primary 15 x 58, secondary 15 x 57 equals 14.69 reduction from the clutch shaft to rear axle.  If Malossi kit worked would have primary 15 x 44, secondary 15 x 57 equals 11.15 a big change.  Of course, from engine crankshaft to clutch shaft would be effected by whatever ratio CVT was producing.

That seems strange that the kit supplied does not actually fit/work.
Malossi stuff works very well from my readings on the net.
If it was correctly ordered,  then it should work with stock final drive components.
I would definately contact supplier,  re incorrect supply.

Thanks for reply.  You are free to verify Malossi gear kit 6711055 is advertised by several vendors to be for Kymco People 50 2T, and many other scooters too.  Do a search of the web and report back.  I can tell you it's doesn't fit, not even close.  I can tell you many vendors will not take it back, sold as is, no returns, they tell you up front.

Malossi makes some very cool stuff, I agree.  However, this is not the 1st Malossi part I have purchased for my Kymco that doesn't fit.  I say "buyer beware".

For me, that's what these forums are all about, documenting what's works and what doesn't.  I did a lot of research on the gear before I bought it, not much out there.  Would be great if it worked, so I tried it, didn't work out.

I also bought the Malossi 6711802 gear kit for Super 9, haven't tried it yet, but I am hoping it will work.  Cheers

Hey Chaz, how'd u make out with finding gears?  I had an 03 people a few years ago did everything but gears on it, I posted a thread about my issues then. Since then I've been working at a scooter shop on and off. And just last week I got me a damn fine deal on an 09 people. I loved my red 03 but that thing must of been a lemon. Anyways I'm so stoked about my new peeps, gonna start the performance process. I'm a ways away from slapping gears in it, but I'd like to know if u found gears that work. Searching the internet doesn't give me a lot of answers other than they don't exist or it wot fit. I had my 03 topped out at 58 mph. Really needed gears, she was a screaming!

Hello Skeet, didn't find gears that work on People 50 2T, still trying to get my Malossie BBK dialed in, installing Malossi 19mm carb next.  Did you see my other thread about installing BBK?  Definitely needs taller gears, but still very good scoot without it, is very fast 0 to 50 for sure!  Not much info about top gear IMO, maybe doable, but I couldn't find it either.  Mine seems to cruise at 50mph, at 9000revs, has enough top speed for me, I am very happy with it, just need to get it cooled down.  Cheers

hey pace, had 7871km at start of 2nd BBK, has 10014km now, that's 1329miles.  I am not riding it now, still working on installing Malossi carb.  Sorry I am so slow, had bad cold for 2 weeks, now have another issue that keeps me from working on it.  I am riding my S9's for now.

I have 2 sets of Malossi gears, 6711055 and 6711802.  Neither set fits People 50 2T, don't know about Super 9 LC yet, haven't disassembled to check.  6711802 is supposed to fit Super 9 LC, but I would not bet that it does.  6711055 may fit Super 9 AC, but I don't know, only way to know is to physically check, my experience:  Malossi info about product or web search is not reliable.

If you get Super 9 LC, will like it, I have really been enjoying mine recently, 49cc LC runs pretty strong, much better than 49cc AC engine IMO.  Cheers

Hey Chaz, I haven't read thru ur other thread yet, I will before I put a kit in it. I'm not sure if u read my only other thread but I had an 03 people 50 2t, (put everything performance I could find in it except pipe I went with leovince city pipe I think. Looked really nice...)when I got it, it was a bit more beat up than my current one, but my new (to me) 09 with 2400 on the odometer seems to run way better in every way, which could b a lot of factors. My 09 had n oil leak and was parked for a year or so then I got it. Cleaned out fuel system, ran some seafoam thru it and for a few days I thought I was gonna need a new carb(not that it won't get replaced anyway with a 19mm delorto) I took it for a good ride on Sunday and I got it up to 51 (not drafting anyone, no wind, carb came around!) my old bike never ran this good stock!! It is slow to accelerate don't get me wrong. But I'm stoked to put a BBK in it.  I'll keep eyes out for gears for our peeps. Keep ya posted on other components I happen to use, different than u and results

Scoot on!

I might be willing to take that 6711055 off your hands for the right price 245luigi confirmed to me that is the part number he installed in his Like 50 build. I just had someone on our Making Slow Look Fast Carolina Scooter Club facebook group page get what we believe was the last set of Malossi gears for the Super9 because they have been discontinued.

pace, what's up, I probably want to keep what I have until I disassemble the Super 9 LC, one of the kits may fit I don't know?  I have seen conflicting info that one or the other may work, and don't trust Malossi's description, seeing is believing.  Cheers

I believe the Super 9 LC gear is discontinued there was a post about it on our Facebook MSLF Club page and a guy in detroit picked it up. He has the Stage 6 gears that work on my Like also but don't work on the Super 9s I guess I will probably get those from him was hoping to keep it Malossi though lol you know me.

Another consideration, I bought mine 2nd hand, already opened.  I don't know if I really got what the Malossi pn indicates, probably did, but would be more certain if box came unopened.  Both sets have the same 15/ 44 gearing, the difference was the 15 tooth shaft that replaces the shaft the clutch is bolted to.

Maybe that's it, I don't know how it goes together?

No worries about discontinued parts, that's what ebay and forums are for, people selling old stuff no longer made lols.  Cheers
