kymco super 8 50cc new 80 kit
« on: August 07, 2010, 10:25:34 AM »
ok heres the thing. i nearly have enough money to buy a new 80cc kit for my bike. this is the kit http://www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/p/AIRSAL-80cc-CYLINDER-KIT-FOR-C-1916.aspx

on the description it says no upjetting or modifications needed, one of my experienced friends who is fitting it says that you probably wont need to upjet but it would help. another inexperienced friend says you definately need to otherwise it could burn the piston. who is right?? and if i do need to upjet could anyone please advise me on the jets to buy?? thankyou.

If you have allready done open air and a pipe, little to no no jetting may be needed. If not just the kit without proper tuneing will not give you the results you want.
an #85 main jet with mild mods will work with most.  A kitted bike start with around a #95 main jet can go as high as #115.
The right jet is not an easy thing to tell you because it depends on your temp, region, fuel grade and elevation. reading your spark plug is the key to getting things right, running too lean will kill your bike!!! Take a look at this.  http://www.dansmc.com/spark_plugs/spark_plugs_catalog.html
Kymco peoples too many ;) I'm not an expert just a full time hobbiest.
