Valve label corrected on the Piaggio
« on: August 13, 2017, 11:01:21 AM »
Found my first serv. question with the 2018 Piaggio.
Scooterwest's "Robot" serv. guy (youtube) and my new Piaggio service manual for my Liberty 150 3V says to set valve adj. at 0.08mm.
But underseat label/sticker says "0.04mm".

Well, no it doesn't say that on the foil label under the seat
I finally got a better look at this shiny foil label with my camera. Did some editing on the Dell so I could read what it says. See for yourself - it does not read, "0.04mm". It reads "0.004 inch"

Still, 0.10mm does not jive with my service manual, the owner's manual or Scooterwest's Robot...they all state 0.08mm.
The foil label is next to impossible to read -maybe there is a reason for that?
Will call the dealer this week to see what they say - though they already told me that it is so new they have no specs or instructions on how to service this new scooter - the day they unboxed it for me.

Plenty of time - won't be doing the 600 mile valve check for a few weeks..

Wow, manual reads .08 and sticker states .04. That is a big difference.
It would seem that the dealer service departments would use the manual specs. I would Check to see if their online specs match either one.
Also, possibly check modernvespa for a thread on this subject.

Definitely ask on more specific boards but I'd be tempted to pull the cover and see how it measures as the factory set it up and go from there.

You mean the Italians have the same problem as the Tai's? Piaggio manuals written by the same folks as Kymco? Lessee, .1 mm = about .004", .08 mm =about .003", .04 mm = about NUTHIN'!

The service manual I found online for the engine is from 2012 showing intake: 0.08 mm exhaust: 0.08 mm. Sounds like they made a change in newer models.
