buy better than nylon tires
« on: October 11, 2017, 10:25:32 AM »
I do not need to ride any longer in the rain -- but I  frequently ride directly after a rain - under dripping trees and through city street puddles.
I rode only a few weeks on the nylon Kenda tires before following the advice of Vivo, and other wet riding veteran riders, and had a set of Michelins installed. Purchased from Amazon for @$110 & local motorcycle dealer installed them for @$130.
The Kendas are very long wearing tires at the expense of road grip - such that after 2 wet rides on them I needed no further incentive to spend another $240 to ride on better tires!
Have never regretted that purchase.
The streets, white stripes and Tim Horton patio chairs are soaking this morning. A man has better stuff to worry about than his scooter tires.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

My understanding is that the nylon fibers help provide structure, but the rubber compound provides the grip.

I  believe that Pirelli Diablos are made with nylon, and are grippy, soft, and somewhat short lived.
