2015 Super 8 150R Owners
« on: November 03, 2017, 07:55:22 PM »
Does anyone else here have a 2015 or later Super 8 150R? This scooter took the place of the old Super 8 for it's release in 2015, but appears to be based more on the Agility than the old Super 8.  There wasn't anything out there I could find in way of reviews prior to my purchase and nothing has really changed. The scooter is made in China as are other Kymco scooters including the "Like" 200i of the same year. I would like to hear what you like and don't like about yours :-\  There are a few redeeming qualities this scooter does possess and I'll get into just what I feel they are ;)

I have owned several Kymco scooters since 2007 so no stranger to Kymco. The scooter will do as advertised 55mph any more and you have to be going down hill and that is going by the digital speedo as I haven't GPS confirmed it yet. I'm also of average height/weight, so that is not a real factor.  The other thing with this scooter is the small 1.3 gallon gas tank and rated @ 57mpg.

Right now I'm digging into the variator and dropped down a gram to 10gram rollers as stock were only 11gram in this scooter. I purchased a koso 115mm variator..the stock variator in these are just under that at 114+mm. I'll be testing with different weight rollers as well as sliders when they arrive in the mail in the next few days.

I really think Kymco de-tuned the snot out of this scooter and it has to be restricted somehow such as a rev limiter which I believe is the culprit here and like on the old Super 8 is a proprietary part, so no real way to upgrade.

I purchased this scooter last year as a leftover and at the time there was next to nothing in reviews and it's still that way in 2017...except for one or maybe two youtube walk arounds which are for the most part useless, so I had nothing to base my decision on when buying it other than the way it looked and felt sitting on it in the dealers showroom.

I have both 2014 and 2016 super 8 150. The 2014 is a better built bike in my opinion.
Instead of continuing with the proven super 8, kymco decided to cut costs and used the agility platform. Only differences are plastic panels.
