Sea Mist parking brakes on sale!
« on: January 05, 2018, 10:43:34 PM »
At Krogers I found a brand new parking brake for my LIKE200I  on sale.
These wide and flexible bands work a treat to compress the rear brake lever while parked - or at times you cannot spare a hand on the brake.
Sea Mist offers these scooter accessories in the fresh veggie isle - decorated with bunches of broccoli.
I put a new one on both scoots.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

These DO work!
You never see a bunch of broccoli roll away, right?

Don't do this if you have a hydraulic rear brake though.

Why not? Aircraft park brakes from Cessna to Boeing are the regular hydraulic brakes pressrized with either the pedals locked or accumulator pressure. I gotta velcro hose tie on mine.

I could be wrong. I read this on another discussion about parking brakes on this forum, and quickly went to unclamp mine.

It could be that I'm just repeating misinformation.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, hypo. I have heard this very same thing all my life, too. I got over it by using the systems in aircraft. There may be a downside somewhere but I have not seen one yet. Now the aviation community uses something else as well called "wheel chocks."

Yeah, I'm not squeezing the beejeebers out of it with my bands or hands (hydraulic or cable) - just holding my scoot in place against the curb side street incline while warming the scoot -- and starting the battery liners,  finishing with the gauntlets, scarf, zippers, camera, glasses, ear plugs, kleenex, and signing autographs.
The Burgman and the Forza had parking brakes (cable-drum brake within a rear disc brake system)...which I  used all the time.....but even the little 50cc LIKE has a lever lock park brake.
This should be standard on all scooters.

Veggies, Taiwanese or Italian.....it's all good stuff.

Stig, good point (s). I am listening to the dead silence of responses from manufacturers and national distributors.
