What is your Mileage?
« on: April 21, 2018, 09:17:47 PM »
I’m curious. We are about to move and we have been debating whether to sell my downtown 300i 2011 and buy something else when we get where we are going or take it with us.

It currently has over 36,000 miles on it. I’ve done good maintenance etc but don’t know how much longer I should expect it to run? How many miles have you guys gotten out of your downtown 300i before it gave out on you?

I have had two identical 2013 DT300I scoots. First was stolen and destroyed at 20000 miles. It was replaced with an identical new-old-stock machine which now has 6900 miles. De dee has more miles on his before it really capped out. Look up his posts. He got bit by the regulator-rectifier failure. I am gonna keep mine until either I can't fix it or can't ride it! I'm 77, De dee is 85 and we both are bull-headed!

I have 65,300km on my 2011 DT. Only had a regulator failure and speedometer cable reading issue in that time, both easy fixes. Other than regular servicing it has been fine.

Mine is a 2013 DT200. She now has 66,350kms on the clock.

Had a couple of breakdowns, replaced some parts, gone thru many sets of tires, brake pads, spark plugs, heaps of oil & gear oil changes, had parts which strangely should not have failed.

How long she will keep going till it becomes financialy viable to repair I do not know.

Not an issue. It's not a race by any means.

In km I am at about 58,000 km. What are signs of a regulator failure? Also, occasionally, but pretty rarely, my speedometer would not work as I am riding, showing just 0 mph sometimes but then working suddenly again. Is this the speedometer cable issue some of you mentioned?

From reading here sounds like I can get many more miles out of it if I keep taking care of it.

My 6 year old DT has 20,000 miles on the clock so far.

Just a baby in comparison.

It sounds the same as my wires , take a look at the wire from the harness on top of the connecter, that is where my wire broke,  I cut the connecter off and installed new connecter from a car wiring,  on the Reg. !!! miss firing cutting off at stops ,   If I new more about wiring I would have changed the Reg. , right away,  but I did not and the stator screwed up too,.

Hi CB325,

Symptoms of a regulator failure include the battery warning light coming on when the headlights are on and engine is running. The battery is not being charged properly so it remains weak. A new regulator is only $20-30 and is an easy fix.

The speedometer issues is caused by a bad connection in the speedometer cable. There is a sensor near the front disc brake caliper. Follow the wires up to the harness. They are joined by crappy crimp connectors that break easily. Simply cut off the connectors and rejoin with solder and heatshrink. I wrote a guide here: http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=23607.0

The speedometer connector issue has been rectified on the new DT350i. Not sure about the regulator. They didn't let me take apart the bike at the Sydney Motorcycle Show last year to check.

Hi!

If it's looked after, there's no reason it wouldn't be capable of 50-75k miles.

I have had 125ccs hit this kind of mileage!

If you like it, keep it :)
