I purchased the same new, left-over, Burgman 400 via an internet special from a dealer 97 miles distant, his price was $4999.00! (and I had the choice of two colors)

How does that compare to what you guys paid?
My dealer is famous for never negotiating on his  prices....

I got some great deals back in the day.  My first scooter was a 2009 Super 8 150.  I forget the exact price but my OTD prices was under the MSRP.  My second scooter was a 2009 Aprilia Sport City 250.  MSRP was $4799.  I paid $3499 + tax.  My third scooter was a 2012 Yamaha Majesty.  I think MSRP was $6899.  I got it for around $5200 OTD in 2015.

I got some motorcycles a killer prices as well.  Probably the best deal I ever got was a Yamaha Vision back in the 80's.  MSRP was $3,099.  I got it for $1620.  OTD with a luggage rack and tax it was $1800.

I don't think we will ever see those kinds of prices again.

Winter here, wet and cold, so 2-wheel sales are at their lowest.  The local dealer has quoted a sale on what scooters he has with no set up fee.

what do you attribute those big discounts to? I would think they must be extra manufacturer incentives (probably end of model year?). There's no way a $6000 scooter had a $1000 markup in it (diff between invoice and MSRP). Stig's prices are roughly 18 and 25% discounts.

Just from talking to the owner of the business, the practice of having a bank floor the inventory,  has changed for many small dealers.  When a dealer sat on a floored machine a long time it was occasionally sold at loss or no profit just to move it.
