Which sliders/rollers should I get?
« on: June 18, 2018, 06:21:18 PM »
When I first got my 2011 Kymco, I put in some sliders and they have worked great! Fast-forward a year or 2 I ended up needing to replace the variator. However, due to the years, they didn't make the 2011 variator I had anymore so had to get the newer version. However, with the newer version I have read that you don't need to use sliders anymore as it is more aggressive/steep than the original. I have noticed that with the same sliders, I get some weird issues when at top speed, like the CVT keeps going in and out. Not sure how to describe it.

My question is should I replace the sliders with rollers? Also, which would give me most top speed? I use to be more city and loved having the fast acceleration I have currently, but now live further out and need to have more reliability at top speed on the highway. Any suggestions or ideas is appreciated. Thank you!

Slighty heavier than stock rollers, maybe 1 gram, or two sets, the other 0.5gam heavier, so you have more options, like 3 and 3 of the different weights or 6 of either.

I believe stock was 14g? Also you recommend just regular rollers as opposed to sliders?

I am going with your original post. You say new variator has more aggressive slope, and current sliders in the new  variator are not behaving as before.
From my pov, that means back to rollers.

On my downtown 300i  2011   the rollers were 15 1/2  grams,  I tried a lot of weights , then settled for 14 gram

Thanks for the feedback. I'll pick up some new rollers and see how it goes.

I have suggested 0.5-1gr heavier to get a better top end, but it will slow pull away slightly.
