So, good old Dad got to keep the daughter's '09 Peoples 150 and add it to the stable of vintage scoots 'cuz she was out of state for awhile. Keep it maintained, registered, insured, etc., and actually enjoy riding it - it's nimble and quick, and has never given any trouble - until the last couple of months.  Can ride it a mile or so into town, park it for an hour or so, then when it's time to go home it dies after a few blocks, and I'm pushing it home.  Won't happen again for maybe a couple of weeks, and you think some crap blew through and now it's good, then it happens again. Push it home. Make a couple of longer roundtrips over the next few weeks, no problem, then out of the blue, it happens again.  Try to start it several times on the way home - no dice - but it always starts right up the next morning and run all day if you want.  Problem goes away for a month or two, then comes back at some random time.  Rode it around a lot today, over 100 degrees, no problems, parked it for couple of hours until evening, then it died about 2 miles from home.  Was not looking forward to pushing it all the way but, after about 8 blocks and a couple of attempts at starting, it finally fired up and off we went, made it all the way home.  Repair shop buddy can't fix what he can't find wrong.  Pretty weird. Any thoughts out there?

Yes, the Stall of Shame. Vent valve to gas tank sticking shut. Proof is open gas cap next time it quits. Carb will take a bit to fill up float bowl. Once proved, vent gas cap.

All I've got is valves need attention ( how many miles, and how many since last valve adjustment?)
And one other: spark plug cap is tight & secure?
Battery terminals - same~same?
Member had intermittent shut-offs due to loose spark plug cap.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Prove that is the problem BEFORE you go to the trouble of venting the cap! Stig brings up good points to check that could be causes of your problem. This has happened before on these Stalls of Shame, I yell "vent" and the problem was solved by pushing the plug cap back on!
