Hi everybody,
Newbie here. I've had my Super 8 150 for nearly a couple years now, and I love it. It has developed some confounding electrical problems that are keeping me from riding. Here's the full story, then I'll get to current symptoms.
About a month ago, I noticed that the scoot's battery was having a hard time starting it up. I put my battery tender on, and then that afternoon it had no trouble firing up a few times. That night, a cool night, I fired it up and took off. I only made it about a block, when it started falling on it's face at full throttle. It was behaving kind of like it had a dirty carb. I figured it just needed to warm up some more, and pressed on. A few blocks later, it died on me and wouldn't refire. Fortunately I was still really close to home, so I walked back and picked up my truck to drag the wounded beast home.
I ordered a new battery the next day, and installed it when it arrived. Here's where it gets weird. When I hooked the battery up, the headlights went on. The key wasn't even in the ignition. I tried putting the key in, to see what would happen. The headlights stayed on, but everything else was dead.
I did some research and asked around, and everybody seemed to think the ignition switch was bad. It took me some time to track one down, but I found a great parts ordering website at worldofpowersports.com. Anyways, it arrived this weekend, and yesterday I installed it. The same problem persists. When I hook the battery up, the headlights go on, and everything else is dead.
My next best guess is the lighting control module I found on the wiring diagram. Hopefully it's not just some random short in the wiring harness somewhere.
Does anybody have any other ideas? Also, where physically is the wiring control module? I couldn't find anything about it in the service manual.
Thanks!
