New member and have an issue with my Bike
« on: August 06, 2018, 05:34:06 AM »
Hi everyone! New to the forum, searched it out after I developed a problem with my scoot. I'm hoping someone here can help point me in the right direction of my next move.

I have a 2005 Like 50cc. Two nights ago the bike started to chug, IE gain power then lose power,  then slowed as it lost power kind of like it was choking out. I made it home but only just.

Now the bike will start and idle, but if I rev it up, just as the clutch engages, it'll take off but then will either almost immediately start chugging and die or just die.

This weekend I changed the gas out (in case there was water) and filled it back up with supreme (I usually run supreme anyway).
I regapped the spark plug, as it still looked new with no cracking, burning, etc.
I changed the fuel filter to a new one.
I removed the carb and cleaned it and the injectors
I cleaned the air filter.

it still does the exact same thing.

Has anyone else had this issue? The bike ran just fine and solid before this, with no other issues or warning this was coming.

Thanks all!!

Sounds live CVT issues? Someone with more knowledge can confirm this!

Sounds like either main jet clogged or float bowl contamination or both.

Hey thanks for the replies!

I had the carb out and cleaned the whole thing thoroughly, including the jets. It's likely now cleaner than it's ever been except for new hehehe.

I've owned a lot of two-strokes in my life and if it's chugging and the carb's clean that's always the problem. I used to carry an extra in my tool kit. Of course that was back in the stone age when we mixed the gas/oil and we used outboard motor oil.
