This is a good scooter.  Had a minor glitch or two, but otherwise good scooter.  Would probably buy again.
9 (47.4%)
Not so good.  Had some minor problems and one or two major problems.  Might not buy again.
1 (5.3%)
This thing is junk!  Had nothing but problems with the machine since day one.  Would not buy this scooter if someone was selling for $1

A POLL!!! Everyone loves them some polls!!
« on: August 12, 2010, 05:29:38 PM »
Hello all!  I am looking at various scooters and motorcycles for purchase after I graduate college.  I am trying to get feedback from various forums on the different models I am considering.
I am basically trying to get a feel from those on the board about their experience overall with their rides and trying to see if there are any major/minor issues that have repeatedly occurred during the
lifetime of the vehicle.  After voting, if you would please leave some info on why you chose your answer(miles when problem happened, how many miles you have overall, description of problem, etc.), I would greatly appreciate it!    ;D

mine is almost one and a half years now
1st problem are the rear shocks, they were slightly twisted but the dealer replaced them after 6 months and 3 emails to kymco global.

2nd is the diaphragm on the carb. replaced it 3 months ago and now it is swollen again.

2nd choice after 3 years and 22000km.
Only 2nd because Burgi650 or TMax or G1200GS or K1200LT or ...
But regarding value for money Kymco is really great.

mine is around 16k km when i was experiencing problems so we replaced it now it has 19k km and looks like it needs to be replaced again. still not sure what the cause is? might be the E10 gasoline we have here.

Mine is an 09 with fuel injection.  This thing runs great.  Only issue was a broken wire in the speedo pickup.  Was replaced by my dealer under warranty. (looks like it got pinched on installation at factory)   Very good value for the money.

Cons: Seat gets uncomfortable on long rides.  Riding position - need handlebar risers if you have short arms.

I am happy with mine, would buy again (unless there was an Xciting 700, which I would buy in a heartbeat...)

I love the scooter and have had no problems. IF I bought another scooter it would be a Kimco. BUT after riding the 500 for awhile you might find yourself looking for something a little bigger and want a full size motor cycle. I debate internally all the time about trading in the scooter for a big bike and then thinkinh why. I love the scooter and it get me wherever I want and it cost less to operate. I would think long and hard about wether I wanted a scooter or bike,

Bought my '07 Xciting used in Feb this year with 3000 miles on it. Have put 5000 on it myself.  It's been really great!  I love the handling and power.  It had to have instruments replaced under warrantee just before I bought it.  I've had no problems at all with it other than water pump went bad I believe due to previous owner putting wrong anti-freeze in it.

Have been using "Star Tron" fuel additive for a while to prevent ethanol problems.  Runs really good!

Only reason I'm not giving it a "best ever" vote is that I've seen the Yamaha T-Max and if I had $8000 bucks to throw around, would prob get one.

Bought a used 2007 Xciting 500 in late April of 2010 with 7,250 miles. I have put over 10,000 miles on the scoot with out one problem, and this included a round trip to Michigan and back in six days. About 4,500 miles in that one trip alone, (one day I traveled 1,004 miles in a 24 hour period). It still has the original belt. All I have done is change the oil. NUFF SAID. :-*

I voted 'It's a good scooter' but would like to add there hasn't been any glitches. I just don't consider it the best scooter ever. Best scooter available for the price I paid probably, definitely haven't had a problem with it, definitely not displeased with it. Best scooter ever would be a bit of a stretch.

Thanks for the feed back so far.  When I said best scooter ever I did not mean to infer that this scooter trumps the others.  Just a figure of speech to say the individual was completely satisfied with the scooter.  So when someone really enjoys something, they sometimes say "this is the best _____ ever!!!"

With that said scootermcgee I voted for the best scoot ever. Never had any problems (except for maybe some bad gas). Would buy again or something bigger like the 700 if it is ever available in the U.S.
Just remember, if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off.

Bought this scoot in May. It is a 2007 carb'd model. Had initial problem with valves too tight, got that fixed and it has run well. I would buy one new again - fuel injected. Moved up from a 150 to a 250 GV to the XC500. Love the power, stability at high speed and the overall balance.
