You can install an open K&N style air filter and upjet the carb.  To open it up even further, go with a good expansion chamber exhaust like the Tecnigas Next R.

Changing to a properly tuned expansion chamber exhaust is about the best thing you can do for a 2-stroke. You will definately notice a difference in performance.  However, modifying one to work may not get help.  Going from a ZX with a vertical to a Super 9 with a more horizontal engine will change the length of the tuned section of pipe.  This will alter the powerband of the pipe and you may not get the full benefit of it.

I have always been a fan of NGK plugs.  I've been running Autolite & Champion plugs for the last year.  Lot's left over from plug chops! ;)  I haven't really been able to notice a difference between them.  I've heard good things about the Iridium plugs, but I haven't used one.  I am going to try one out once I've used all my other plugs.

two more questions as far as a reed spacer  what exactly does it do and a boost bottle  what does it do and can i benefit from either with a stock scoot?

A reed spacer, if i'm not mistaken, will allow more volume in the engine. It can help the mid range, but i dont think it'll do much good for a stock scoot..(maybe after some light mods)...
The boost bottle captures the extra "air" and stores it so it's not lost out the exhaust. It keeps a fresh "charge" of air to help "boost" the low, mid range. Of course it's not going to be a drastic change or anything, but ppl swear by them to help. In the high end race set ups is where they say they dont notice a difference......... OF course their is always the debate of weather they work.. The only consensus is they DONT work on a 4t.....(i have one for the ZX i'll be trying myself) ...
I would wait on the irridium plug untill after the carb, etc. is tuned in...A $12.00 plug chop each time will get expensive QUICK....(then i think it's a 9 you'll want)
