Jackets & Smax vs PCX vs LIKE150i
« on: February 10, 2019, 06:27:29 PM »
Poking around at my dealer looking for some heated gloves & checking winter sales.
Bought another First Gear hiviz mesh jacket for $99 - to replace my faded one, reg $179.
Like it because it has the most hiviz area of any jacket I've found. If I'm going 'hi-viz' - I want all I can get! Too many others have lots of black areas. Those reflecting strips really work at night!
Works well on days too hot for my leather ICON*.

Then sat the Yamaha, Honda and Kymco scooters.
Love the step thru and finish of the Smax but foot area was really tight for my size 14's....and severely stepped seat gives my 6'3" no options.....2 disc brakes.

The PCX is the exact same price as the Smax, is not a step through and is a known nightmare to service under those panels and has a rear drum brake. Foot area was OK.

LIKE150iABS is a $1000 cheaper, snug foot area and OK seat for me.....much smaller wheels for a totally different ride than the other two.
I have a great running small wheel scooter in the 1st gen. LIKE - so not in the market for another.

I gotta love the scooter (shape, color, ABS, etc.) - but it can never be one which is a pain to DIY service!

If I ever come across another mint, low mileage Forza - I'd buy it because it is a HONDA and it is red!
Been a HONDA fan for 50 years. Never a bad experience with 5 bikes and a scooter.
Snowing again today...

Yeah, I now what you mean.
First thing I looked for was the sticker with the load limits when shopping for my 1st scooter.
You can see why salesmen and family refused to let me consider a Metropolitan or a Vino.
I noticed 6 years ago, that I look like a circus bear on a beach ball when riding my LIKE.
I just try never to look at my reflection in a store window.
Even a 500lb Burgman 400 looked small under me.
Also, ICON makes that jacket in hi viz yellow - but black is the only color in 5XL...keeps my wrists covered too.

The wheels on the Like are only 1" smaller than the Smax, 12" vs 13'.  The Like still has a slightly smoother ride than the Smax.  My old Super 8 has a better ride than either the Smax or Like.

At 6-2 I fit better on the Like than I did the SMax but I made the Smax work by putting a thick seat pad on it.  That raised me up enough that I could use the Angled footrests on the front fairing.

It would be nice if they made a People 400 gti. I think that would be a bike that would fit you well. What about the Piaggio Beverly 350? Or a SYM S300

The only horse big enough for John Wayne was a Clydesdale....

I have never ridden a scooter, afraid I might like it.  But I do believe in hi-vis
my first was an aerositch roadcrafter, it was before hi-vis became popular

but it shrunk  ;-)
needs a zipper repair, but one day, I may shrink till then,
I currently have a FG Kilimanjaro
