motor oil ?
« on: September 08, 2010, 02:20:23 PM »
Hello everyone just wanted to ask what you think. I have yamalube dino 20w50 in my xciting now with 1000 miles on her. As the fall is approaching very fast i am seeing the evening temps falling into the 40's already! First question is....Should i switch to the rotella t6 5w40 for the cooler seasons, and second is 1,000 miles to early for the synthetic oil??
I thank you all for any help you may offer!! Thanks and have fun , be safe!!

my manual says 5-50 all year I use Mobil 1 5-50 our summer day temp get to 43 and winter night/day is 6-25c so it seems to be good for that  but if the temp went waaaay down to minus something and only reached say 10-15C during the day the I would think a 5-40 would be ok...what does the manual say for your region? if you only did 1000m then you are still in warrenty and if you put non recommended in and the engine dies  for whatever reason then your warrenty is kaput :-\

The only important thing about the oil is to CHANGE IT.

DINO or SYNTH

10/40 or 20/50 it does NOT really matter to this bike

In many third world countries they will run whatever they can get their hands on.

dirty or clean... that matters..
