Brake Light Switch No Good
« on: April 13, 2019, 09:03:41 PM »
Well I brought the Like in to the dealer today for the annual state inspection sticker (revenue generator) and discovered the rear brake lever isn't lighting up the brake light.  No sticker, get back to garage, turns out you have to remove the plastics from the headset to access the switch.
Looked up Stig's recent very helpful and illustrated instructions for taking the headset apart to get at the brake reservoirs, worked perfectly (no swear words were uttered).  Have a downloaded copy of the service manual which shows how to test the continuity of the switch, very easy.  Switch is bad, new one on order.  Put everything back together as the bike is rideable till the switch arrives.
Thanks Stig for your tutorials with photos, very good!  Also a clam knife works well to separate the plastics!

Clam knife!
😊
So far, I've found this scooter to be kinda fun to work on. Not intimidating.
I remember that Massachusetts had yearly safety inspections. They were like $2 at many filling stations with bays.
Here, in Ohio - drive it till it explodes - no inspections. Some real beauts on the streets.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I didn't have a pizza cutter handy, but being in RI, we have many tools for assaulting shell and fin fish here.
Yeh, annual inspection of PTWs is $11 and goes into the state's general fund.  Sorry I digress-
Parts guy said he had never sold on of these switches yet, I'm the first.
Thanks again for the clear info!
