MPG Comparison Gas car, Gas Scooter, Electric car.
« on: April 25, 2019, 03:54:29 PM »
I wanted to see which of the 3 vehicles I own would be the most efficient. Now most people I talked to believed the Electric would be most efficient. I had a 2014 BMW I3 electric. In order to go 100 miles in the electric I found out it would take about 27kwh of power. To determine the cost per KWH I broke down my electric bill with National Grid by taking all charges based on the number of KWHs used for the month.The cost per KWH is $0.252. Gas is currently $2.799. My car gets 30 mpg on average, calculated by Fuelly. My scooter gets as much as 70 mpg.

BMW I3 =  27KWH X $0.252 PER = $6.80            COST PER 100 MILES

CAR  = 100/30 = 3.333 GAL X $2.799  =  $9.33                 "

SCOOT = 100/70 = 1.43 GAL X $2.799 = $4.00                   "
