New to me Like 200i - dead?
« on: July 08, 2019, 06:23:39 PM »
Hi,
New member from Ottawa, Ontario.
Got on my new (to me) 2013 Like 200i to run some errands.
Within 100 yards of home...
Slight hesitation.
Died.
Now is completely dead.
Checked the 2 10A fuses inside battery compartment and they are both good.
Battery to starter solenoid has power.
When I turn the key to the ON position, the clock slowly fades away.
One time, after leaving the switch in the ON position for about 8 minutes the CEL blinked but I didn't see the start of the sequence so I don't know the number of flashes.

Any ideas most welcome,
Ian in Ottawa

Disconnected the negative battery terminal and left it for 10 minutes.
Reconnected the negative terminal.
Clock now at 1:01 so it looks like the reset worked.

Turn key to ON
Long fuel pump cycle.
CEL flashes 6 times 4 times in a row.
Turn to OFF
Turn to ON
Longer fuel pump cycle
CEL flashes 6 times. Stops flashing.
Try to start bike.
Starts right up.

I will now reinstall the battery and seat pan and seat and take it for a test drive.
Any ideas or insights appreciated.

Took it out for a quick test run of 5kms.
Everything working as expected.

Any ideas as to what happened would be appreciated.

Scooter wet?
Dying battery.
Loose at battery terminal.
Loose at neg. ground point.
Spark plug cap was loose.
Kill switch activated.
Brake switch dirty.

If touching any of these things fixed your issue.....good - so be it.
I'd keep rides short for a time.....until sure your scoot is healed.

Have seen a lot of weird things happen when battery is dying, or battery leads or ground is loose.

Keep us posted please.

Good questions, Stig.
Perfect, dry conditions.
Battery voltage 12.84
Terminals seemed fine
Spark plug cap was good
Kill switch has never been touched
I will look at the brake switch

Took it for a quick ride last night (20 kms round trip) and I am carrying tools.
I will review all battery connections,

Any ideas as to the "6" trouble code?
Thanks for a quick reply, Stig.

From cyclepedia manual:
"6 ,P0560, Battery voltage malfunction,

1. Check the battery voltage.
2. Inspect the charging system."

Might a less than perfect battery or ground connection throw the same code?

So far it is working fine after re-tightening all the wiring.
Will let you know if there is a recurrence.

Thanks, we do appreciate the follow-up. ...Otherwise we'll wonder if she quit on you in the Mojave.
