2009 Agility 50 problems with starting / idling
« on: May 03, 2019, 07:40:09 PM »
I just bought a 2009 Kymco Agility 50 ONE with about 6500KM on it. On my test ride before I bought it, it fired up with out issue (maybe it was already warm) but since owning it I've been running into issues with starting / idling. Long story short, I've gotta simultaneously give it gas when starting it, when I start it without any throttle, it won't start. When idling at lights, I'm constantly throttling it, because if I don't it will die.

I just got it back from the shop, all the fluids changed out, carb basic cleaning received, valve clearance checked, and spark plug replaced. When I took it home ran fine, maybe because the guys at the shop had done a test ride before I got there and it was warm already. But now same issues...only difference is that now when idling, sometimes the revs kick up, where I can feel the scooter pushing a bit. If I throttle it a bit, the revs go back down, and the it putters out and dies.

It is pretty annoying to continusouly have to juggle the throlttle at any red light. Any suggestions? I took it to a Triumph dealer, as I don't have a Kymco dealer immediately near by, and the only scooter specific shops cater to Vespas only. I am hesitant to take it back to Triumph, as maybe they're not too specialized on scooters? Idk.

Did they check the automatic choke? What about adjusting the idle screw? Sounds like something I've been running in to (except I have about 12,500 miles)...

Maybe a new carb, $30...

I just put it in mine yesterday. Quick test run it seems okay.... we'll see as the week goes.
2014 Agility 50 4T
Still stock after all these years...
Except for a 19mm carb now.

I found a crack along the plastic manifold  just where the carburetor joins it  and had same problem. Worth a look. 12 uk pound to get new one. Hopefully this helps.

yup i would give a good guess that the choke/ air flow could be the issue. check your hoses
