Planning to leave Chattanooga about June 15, XTown 300i ABS, goal Copper Harbor Mich in the UP--Route either up I 75, Makinak (SP?) Bridge to the UP----only the wire mesh on some lanes of the bridge bother me if wet Or go thru IL and WI and enter Mich at Ironwood, then on to Houghton and finally Copper Harbor, turn around and go home.
I carry my camping stuff, but usually look for $40 motels.....camping can cost up to $25 or more anyway.
Machine needs no prep other than fresh oil and tire inspection and pressure check. Wash it when I get back.
I do carry tire repair stuff/pump/tools and spare drive belt. Daily mileage about 200 to 400 on high end. As I like to be comfortable, wear Aerostich Kombat Light boots, plenty of spare gloves, Rain Gear including rubber boots and Aero overmitts, Yellow Mesh Jacket with liner if gets cold---Long underwear, too! Will be using new RS Helmet and of course have lots of fresh foam ear plugs with.
Pants flapping can be tiring---Kombat Lite Boots allow tucking pant cuffs in boots. Dog will be riding in small Bestem Box----even though I won't be carrying much junk, use 2 Ortleib rubber bags, one on top of the other. Plan to use "Hump" bag for stuff I want/need to get into often.
As I look over windshield, it still needs cleaning now and them---Use Protect All for that as well has face shield and glasses cleaning.
