advice from pros regarding Dr Pulley sliders

There are lots of ideas about what Dr Pulley sliders do, how they work, what they can do,  and can't do.

Below is a copy of what both have to say about Dr Pulley sliders.



Choosing the proper weight - when compared to your stock roller weight:

Lighter weights will give a lot more climbing power at the cost of some top end speed. Cruising speed RPMs will likely increase as well.

Middle range weights will give improved low end power, climbing, and acceleration versus stock weights. Top speed should be similar to stock weights, and RPMs will be similar to the stock weights

Heavier weights retain (or slightly improve) existing top speed with the possible expense of climbing ability - but are great for reducing top speed RPMs for better gas mileage.

I hope this clears up some of the fog about how these Dr P sliders work - and what they will do in your scooter, kart of 4-wheeler.

(Personal Examples - While I have no personal experience with the top speed of any of the 4 scooters I've owned - I will relate this > my Burgman 400 had plenty of power, but I wanted to reduce highway cruising RPM's. I installed a heavier DrP slider weight  and it dropped my RPM's by 1,000 at 75>80mph. I went with 1gm lighter sliders in my LIKE200i - but it increased my cruising RPM's too much, so I removed them.)

No adverse effects. ...the Burgman still had plenty of  grunt in all situations for me. Would still rocket up an on ramp on I-70.....but saw a pleasant  drop in  cruising RPM's ! The new owner liked them as well.
Sorry, i would only be guessing as to what weight I  used 3 or 4 yrs ago. They were heavier than stock...and was happy after the first try..(LIKE200i took 2 sets)

This thread should not be called "Advice from Pros," it should be called Advice from people trying to sell you something." I don't know of a single professional who uses this stuff.

My two bits on this comes from just a couple bikes

A Kymco s200 - replaced stock rollers with stock weight DPs.
Top speed roughly the same, the DPs all but eliminated the annoying flat spot in the s200 with stock rollers.
If I did it again I'd try 1g lighter sliders for the best of both worlds.

SYM HD200
Stock DPs vs. Rollers - The DPs were smoother, top end about the same, there's a mid 30something spot that the rollers seemed to have better acceleration & seemed a bit better holding the top end, probably due to slightly higher rpm.
1g lighter DPs.  That's the ticket..very smooth better acceleration, top end maybe a hair better with rpm still not seeming too bad.
1g lighter rollers.  Definitely where to go on this bike.  The top end seems to have higher rpms vs. the DPs, & is running more wrung out overall at similar high end speeds.  It might hold the speeds better up the passes than the DPs, I haven't had a chance to check that out.  These are noticeably grabbier than the sliders and the sliders are very noticeably smoother.

The 1g lighter sliders did impact my MPG noticeably but not dramatically.

But, if so, that's a really horrible website!  Give them credit, at least Scrappy Dog had a useful website . . .
