No Bars!

Didn't really mean to do this 20 miles from home!
Made it to the SHELL station for some good stuff....

Might have had another 40 miles of gas in there.....might have.
The trip gauge is only good if you were completely full the last time!

Pucker....!
I was riding along working a back-up plan.
I could barter a couple of my emerg. Moon Pies for a pint from a farmer.....or ask to borrow one of his riding cows and fetch my own from town. Wasn't worried.

On a recent longer ride in a rural area, I put an aluminum 1 litre gas can (like a water bottle) in the top box.
A few hours later, nearing E w no gas stations around, pulled over to get the gas can.
The screw top had vibrated itself loose and there was a puddle of gas in the top box.
Can was still 2/3rds full, got enough fuel to get to a station.
But the top box and everything in it reeked of gasoline.  Thought it was going to be a $200 mistake,
as everything I read said gasoline smell cannot be removed from plastic.

Let baking soda sit in the box for 3 days, then rinsed it w hot water.  Smell pretty much gone.
Put a few pieces of lump charcoal in there for another 3 days to be sure, can't detect any odor.

Now I screw the cap on extra tight and carry it under the seat where it vibrates much less.
Put a neoprene wrap around it to protect from whatever heat is generated under the seat.

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

I'm getting right around 100mpg....just wanted to get one more, the 3rd, coffee ride in before filling. Most rides are @45-50 miles.
1.6 gal tank
Problem is I'm lousy - or the scoot is - at filling all the way.
If you don't start the trip odo with 1.6 gals - ride mileage is a crap shoot thereafter.

No plans to carry spare fuel. I ride into the sticks - but live in a city. Pass plenty of gas stations. I used to gas up in my coffee village at a BP - but it is under new ownership and it is no longer selling Top Tier fuel. Owner's also a flaming N_zi highschool soccer coach - and I won't give him a cent of my $.
His station is just past where my scooter is parked.
