I made it part way home and the 'stagger' just got worse - I had to pull over on the shoulder and let people pass but slowly made it home.

How did you figure out it that your regulator is the issue? The diagnostic tool?

  not the diagnostic tool , I changed regulators until I got 14 volt read out.  out- put on the meter,  now I will run around locally, for a while,

So when it died, it wasn't keeping the battery charged.  Did it die all at once or gradually?

iT DIED ALL AT ONCE . like no spark,  battery had full charge , I turned it over every 1/2 hour to see if it would start while I was waiting for the tow truck, next day I put the new REG., on and it started up and runs perfect,.  running back and forth to Orleans about 15 miles, got it up to 106 Kmph, felt like it could go faster , but I was at my turn off,. I think 90 kliks is fast enough for that small scooter,.  RPM gets to high,.  wont fool with the variator until I get a flat belt sander again,

I got a little energenic today and took apart the variator and cleaned the clutch pads and bell ,  removed about 1 mm. off of the boss , on the test ride the RPM is a little lower,.  will have to put more miles on it at speed ,.  with the cover  off,  the belt go,s within 1/8 " from the top of the drive  pulley,.  ;D ;D ;D

Put spacers behind the variator and you can get it higher.

how thick of a spacer would you recommend, for a first try,.  2 mm 3 mm???
