Advice on belts----after 11 new rubberband drive scooters and over 400,000 miles with them---change at maker's recommended distance and with OEM belt---not cheap if you ride a lot but better than walking!  Had one belt break, Helix in VA---Helix belt easy to change as front pulley does not have to come off, belt went on rear by squeezing clutch, block with piece of wood.

I always carry spare belt as dealers probably do not have belt in stock.  I find delays on trip can get expensive if you are not prepared!

Now as I know many here do not ride big miles, there is another thing to consider on belts=AGE.  For me more than 4 years old, change belt!

Pleased to be able to agree with grinsel - OEM belt, correct intervals. I've only ever had one go - aftermarket belt on a Like200i. I am also a fan of always having the spare on board.

I'm put off a Vespa by the unnecessary complexity of this. Chinese scooters have many faults, but you can do the whole job with three tools and I value that!

Agree with the above - use OEM and change at the scheduled intervals.
