UXV450i Bench Seat & Trailering
« on: September 20, 2019, 02:21:49 PM »
My hunting spots are all over the map so my uxv sees a lot of trailer time. Does anyone else have the problem where their bench seat will pop off and wind up on the floor?
I make sure its locked down to its fullest extent but wondering if I might be missing a clip or two on my specific machine.
Currently I just bungee it down for the trip. No biggie, inquiring minds and all that.

Check for the 2 rubber grommets where the little pins should enter near the front of the seat, would be just under your outer knee when sitting in the seat. Those 2 pins should be a snug pop into place to hold the front of the seat in place. I lost mine after the first coyple weeks, replaced them and lost them again.  Finally used auto trim glue to glue grommets in place and  2 yrs later still there!  An extra strap across the seat is a good safety just in case.  I have now fixed the problem for good...got an enclosed trailer...I dont loose anything now!

never even considered the seat coming loose. I've trailered several hundred miles multiple times at highway speeds, and also rough roads, never an issue

only time my seat ever came loose on it's own was when I flipped my rig

Rolled mine twice and seat stayed put but 2 of us were in it so I guess the seat had to stay in..lol...seriously though the seat will come out easily if those rubber grommets pop out, they normally push thru when intalling the seat and fall down onto the skid and you may not even notice. I kept pushing mine thru and ended up glueing mine in place and have had no other issues. Seat should take some effort to push down into place, if not look to see if rubber grommets are missing.

not sure what grommets yer talking about,  on mine, the rear edge of the seat tucks under the seat back and the front snaps into the seat frame, held in with pressure from being tucked under the seat back

On my machine the rear tucks under the seat back then there are 2 pins along the front edge of the seat than pop into a hole on the seat frame, in that hole should be a rubber grommet in which that pin inserts. It goes in with a little force unless the grommet has popped out. My grommets popped out after the first month, I found them laying in the bottom on the skid plate. After I kept pushing them thru when installing the seat, I finally glued them in the hole. Look carefully as the seat drops down into place and watch where the locating pin enters, there should be a rubber grommet in that hole.  They are shown on the parts schematics on Kymco USA website if you look at the parts diagram under your model number. I used those part numbers to order extra grommets from my dealer. Without the grommets the front edge of that seat kinda flops up and down and is not held down.  Hope this helps

ok, finally took a look at my seat, I see where the grommets go, but don't know what the problem is without them,  its still an effort to install and remove the seat, plenty of pressure from the cushion to keep it in place

as I said, I've trailered hundreds of miles highway speeds, and bumpy rough roads, (northern new england pot holes)

Some seats fit tighter than others, with the grommets it just becomes a tighter fit. My seat is a little loose without them, dont think it would pop out but for a couple bucks why take the chance?  Grommets are alot cheaper than replacing that seat!  Another reason I use a fully enclosed trailer, having traveled thousands of miles to go riding at various places, I have never lost anything...just piece of mind I guess....
