Customizing Like 200i
« on: September 27, 2019, 10:50:13 PM »
One of the joys of getting a new "toy" is making small changes that improve the looks and/or operation ...at least to the eye of the owner. here's a photo of my new 2018 Like 200i with some added pin striping. Around the leg shiels in 1/4" wide silver metallic pin stripe tape, while the red stripe is also 1/4" wide. Livens the scoot up a bit, tho I've not completely sold myself on the red stripe on the front fender. Waiting for those chrome front and rear bumpers and windshield.

Red 3M reflective tape is very, very refective to cars at night!
I used a 1/8" strip on the side of a grey Burgman and it looked good on the dull matte painted scooter, like yours, and was a nice safety feature.
Pick up a roll on ebay, or some auto parts stores.
They (3M) also make a black, in tape, or panels which you can cut, which reflects white at night.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I like the touch of red on the leg shields. The thought of adding subtle color never occured to me. And Stig's idea to make that stripe reflective is a good option. Since I rarely drive in darkness, I'll refrain from reflective customizations on the scooter and rely upon making my torso, legs, and helmet as reflective as possible. Since you come from a motorcycle background, all of this talk is "old hat."

My dealer ordered the front and rear trim (crash bars) from Kymco about a month ago - as of today, they are still on backorder. I used cyclegear.com to order and receive this windshield: Puig Trafic Windscreen Kymco Like 50 / 200 2009-2018. It sounds like you've already ordered yours.

In the short two months I've owned this scooter, I've toyed with several customizations. All but the silver racing stripes and plastic "Like" logos are reversible.

But you're right. The joy of getting a new "toy" is making small changes that suit your needs.

The thin 3M pin-stripe can be subtle...but it is surprisingly reflective at night!
