Improving the Ride
« on: December 04, 2019, 05:02:03 PM »
When riding home w some groceries on the floorboard (a case of beer qualifies as groceries, doesn't it?),
the scoot seemed more stable and a better all around ride.  Probably due to the lowered center of gravity
from the extra weight.

Wondering if a piece of lead placed on the floorboard would yield a similar effect?  It would be covered by
a rubber mat or something similar.

Does this sound crazy?  Has anyone done or considered something like this?
2014 BV 350  "IndiGO" (fast, strong and tireless)
2006 Honda Rebel 250  "Snow Leopard" (stealthy, agile and durable)
2018 Lance Cali Classic 200i  "Black Panther" (smooth, nimble, quiet and quick)
2016 Wolf V-50 (sold)

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

Glad to know I'm not the only one carting around with groceries on the floorboard. I'm not sure whether it's legal, but every now and then I'm riding about 5km with.......believe it or not - a 7kg bag of potato's lying on it's side on the floor board, with my feet on top of it.

As for stability, I'm not too sure - the riding position with a bag of potato's under the feet is a bit awkward.  I usually concentrate not to drop the potato's or scooter, therefore I haven't noticed a difference in stability so far.
Life is a journey. Just spend some time, and enjoy the trip.

Not if it's light beer!

In all seriousness, I have ridden less than two miles with a bag between my feet that was heavily cinched to the center hook. And no, I did not feel the effect you describe or see any advantages to adding weight. Besides, my own weight already keeps the scooter well grounded.
