Neither puke tube nor spark plug work Downtown300i
« on: March 19, 2021, 11:03:13 PM »
Hello everyone.
I have a scooter downtown 300i (2010), the bike does not start, I have not idea where the problem comes from.
I already checked the ignition coil (voltage), it has a new battery, new spark plug and new ignition coil. The spark plug does not have any spark and the puke tube does not pump any petrol. The bike tries to run but it will to drain the battery. Any ideas about what the problem could be?
Thanks

When you say it "tries to run" - do you mean that the starter is cranking over the engine?
Does your scooter have a red kill switch ? If so, try to start your scooter with this switch in the "other" position.
BTW - 'puke tube' is the rubber drain tube hanging from airfilter boxes.....
You're talking about the 'fuel line' not bringing any fuel.
Anything to report after this?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

It does have the kill switch but the position is "RUN". I meat what you said, the starter is cranking over the engine, the sound that it has when it's about to start but nothing happens.
Btw, It shows error 37 on the board.

First and foremost you are wasting the starter and battery if this does not startvafter the second revolution. Highly recommend stop cranking if no start.
Second, the red kill switch only kills the spark so any malfunction of that switch will give the symptoms you have.
More later after code 37 is checked....

I'll check that switch and see what happens.

Code 37: faulty ignition coil

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/839112/Kymco-People-Gt-300i.html?page=139#manual

I know it says People but the engines/transmissions in the 300i models are the same.
Test the ignition coil with a multimeter before you go buy a new one!

You said you put a new coil in it correct? If you crank the engine over does the low battery light come on?My scooter has done the same thing to me what your dealing with.Your coil is probably ok.If you valves are out of spec they probably need to be adjusted.Once you flood the engine there a pita to dry out.I take the plug out pull the injector out as one piece do not take the connector or fuel hose off.Once you reset the valves then spray brake cleaner in the plug hole crank it over with plug hooked to wire resting against the engine to see spark watch it and injector for spray into a rag to catch fuel crank it over a few times if it has spark and fuel put it back together then charge your battery with a small charger for that battery.once charged then try to start scooter.Good luck they can be mind boggling. If it does start you will have to clear codes if it still on make sure you get it up to temperature before turning it off .I would get a battery maintainer and plug it in every night to keep the new battery in top shape.

I already checked what you told me and the issue is still happening. This is a video showing what is happening.

Any help will be appreciated
