Annoying noise
« on: July 17, 2022, 02:49:12 AM »
My 2010 Exciting 500 is ready to turn 20K miles. When taking off, I sometimes hear a little "grunging" type noise for a second, and only when moving away from a stop. Sounds kind of like a bad brake shoe would. Is this a sign I'm heading for a roller & belt job, or something to worry about farther down the road? The bike performs just fine.

20K miles.
Is that the original belt? Clutch pads buffed - ever?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Engine off, up on center stand - spin the back wheel. Hear anything?

No. And the problem seems to be gone now.
