I think threads like this make it easier for everyone to contribute, and that builds community. I'm on several motorcycle forums that have good communities, and a few that just don't.

Some common thread themes are: "what are you listening to", joke of the day, rant of the day, small victory of the day, what did you do with your bike today?, pics of your ride out on the road.

Scavenger hunt threads are fun, first poster puts out an easy challenge like post a pic of your ride in front of a mural. The first one to post that pic sets the next challenge, like your bike in front of a....cannon, bridge, rail crossing, airplane, helicopter, vintage car, etc... Good fun that encourages participation and encourages us to get out riding.
