..it's a toss-up..i would think that if you were running a gates 729 belt, yeah, you could shave a mm or 2 off that 38....

i presume a 729 is slightly less in width than the standard belt then?

I don't know about the 4 stroke, but with my 2 stroke I bought the TZR-50 racing cdi and I have not noticed any improvement in performance. BUT, it does start a lot easier which is a big plus for me. maybe my stock cdi was on it's way out.
ZX50, 47mm cyl. kit, TZR50 CDI. Michelin Pilot Sport tyres,

word.....Ahhh i get you now, because the belt is longer it will ride higher thus giving a lil more top speed,so for the belt to do its funky thang you shave a lil of the boss to compensate for extra belt length.i am right arnt i ? ;D

my scoot came with a extra boss already shaved down and a bigger jet just had to cut the cdi box.
I was told buy a scoot buddy that if I was to get a wider belt that well help also but im not to sure about that one.

...yuo're frikin cracking me up dude!!!!

...lmao........

...HOWEVER!!...a longer belt does give you a lil more top end speed, but will require further cvt tuning to keep your take-off and mid range performance..

..itsa delicate balance, sometimes difficult to achieve...

..again, i've never shaved any off the length of a drive boss, and it's not necessary to do so to reap the benefits of the longer 729-17.7-28 belt...(Gates PowerLink)

 ;D

..still chuckling...
